Kobasicijada
About this event
The most famous homemade-sausage festival in Vojvodina — a culinary tradition from the village of Turija.
The Kobasicijada in Turija has been celebrated since the 1980s and is today one of the most recognisable culinary festivals in Vojvodina. Over the last weekend of February, this small Banat village fills with the smells of paprika, smoked meat and freshly made sausages.
The centrepiece is the contest for the longest and tastiest sausage — fires are lit from dawn, and the best masters produce sausages that can stretch over 2,000 metres. Alongside the tasting, visitors enjoy tamburica orchestra concerts, folk dancing and a fair of local products.
Entry is free, and food is purchased at the event itself. A perfect day trip from Belgrade or Novi Sad for anyone who loves authentic Vojvodina cuisine.
