About this tour

Four cellars, seven wines, one day in eastern Serbia — the Negotin wine route.

The Negotin wine region, one of the oldest in Serbia, lies between the Danube, the Carpathians and the Stara Planina mountains. Wine-making here is Roman in origin and stretches back more than two thousand years; the rock-hewn cellars known as pimnice, some older than the Serbian state itself, make this region unique in Europe.

Our tour visits four family-run cellars — from large modern wineries with Decanter medals to small rural producers of native varieties such as začinka, bagrina and tamjanika. At each cellar you taste five to seven wines, paired with local cheeses, cured meats and bread from the wood-fired oven.

Your guide talks about the history of the region, the terroir, the grape varieties and the production process. Transport from Negotin is included.
